Kanpur police arrested two siblings in Noida for allegedly duping people of lakhs by promising PM Awas Yojana homes using fake allotment letters; others absconding.
Kanpur: Police arrested two siblings in Noida for allegedly cheating several people of lakhs of rupees by promising them homes under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana. The siblings, against whom non-bailable warrants had been issued, were brought to Kanpur on Wednesday and sent to jail.Two cases had been registered against Satyam Tiwari and his brother Ojasvi at Jajmau police station after the alleged fraud came to light. Police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 each for the siblings.ACP Kotwali Ashutosh Singh said local residents Asif Mansoori and Amit Gautam lodged FIRs in 2025 and 2026, respectively, against Satyam, Ojasvi and their associate Naushad Ali, all residents of Tiwari Pur in Jajmau.The accused allegedly asked victims and their relatives to fill out forms on the pretext of helping them secure homes under PMAY and collected money from them by showing fake allotment and possession letters.Asif’s mother, Raisa Begum, paid Rs 45,000, while Amit paid more than Rs 2 lakh in several instalments. Police said the accused had cheated several people of lakhs of rupees.Satyam and Ojasvi fled to Noida after the cases were registered. Police arrested Satyam in Sector 15 and Ojasvi in Sector 62 on Tuesday.
