Red Arrows cancel Guernsey air show appearance - but not Jersey's

Organisers have said previously they had built the display around the team's planned attendance.

The Red Arrows have cancelled their appearance at the Guernsey Air Show - while organisers of the Jersey International Air Display say they are still expecting the team to attend.

The Royal Air Force's aeronautic display team was set to open the 2026 Guernsey Battle of Britain Air Display in St Peter Port on Wednesday.

The Red Arrows said they were facing "issues with aircraft and engineering resource", which meant they could not deploy seven jets as planned for the event on Wednesday. They acknowledged the "disappointment" this would cause to the "people of Guernsey", especially given the "late notice".

Jersey display organisers said on social media they had not been advised of issues.

Organisers of the Jersey display at St Aubin's Bay said they had "not been advised of any issue that would prevent the Red Arrows from performing" on Thursday.

"Had there been a known problem affecting their Jersey appearance, we would have expected to have been informed by now," they added.

"As always with aviation, displays remain subject to weather, serviceability and operational requirements. But, if anything changes, we will let you know as soon as we do."

The Red Arrows team, based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, have had to pull out of several key events this summer after being stranded in Canada due to bad weather.

Natalie Davidson, event organiser for the Guernsey display, had said previously that the show was "built around" the Red Arrows, while their cancellation has led to a revised line-up.

Organisers added: "We are still really looking forwards to this evening's display with the new revised line up."

The BBC has asked the Red Arrows if their scheduled appearance at Jersey International Air Display on Thursday would also be impacted.

Event organisers in Guernsey have published a revised schedule:
