Beaumont Lamarre-Condon: Trial of ex-cop accused of double murder to begin in Sydney

The double murder trial of Beaumont Lamarre-Condon, a former police officer accused of killing his ex-partner and his new boyfriend in 2024, is to begin in Sydney on Monday.

Lamarre-Condon, 31, has pleaded not guilty to two charges of domestic violence-related murder and one of aggravated break and enter.

Police allege Lamarre-Condon used his work-issued gun to shoot his ex-partner Jesse Baird, 26, a television presenter, and Baird's new partner Luke Davies, 29, a Qantas flight attendant, at a home in the inner Sydney suburb of Paddington.

The couple's bodies were found in a rural area more than 200km southwest of Sydney, hidden in surfboard bags. The trial is expected to run for three months.

Police launched a frantic search for Baird and Davies after bloodied items belonging to the couple were found in a bin in Sydney's south in February 2024.

Later that week, Lamarre-Condon handed himself in to a police station and was charged with the alleged murders.

Eight days after the alleged killings took place, authorities found the couple's bodies.

Lamarre-Condon was sacked by New South Wales (NSW) Police in the weeks after he was charged with the alleged murders.

A jury is expected to be selected on Monday, followed by opening statements by the prosecutors and the defence.
