Mum's pride after Macclesfield girl lands role in Practical Magic 2

The mother of an 11-year-old girl from Cheshire has described feeling "overwhelmingly proud" after her daughter landed a role in the sequel to Practical Magic.

Harriet, from Macclesfield, won the part of young Antonia Owens, daughter of Sandra Bullock's character Sally Owens, after she travelled down to London for a round of auditions in June 2025.

Practical Magic 2 is the sequel to the 1998 fantasy romcom which stars Bullock and Nicole Kidman as witch sisters. The film also features actresses Joey King and Maisie Williams.

Emma said her daughter had "taken it all in her stride" and that the process had been "an incredible experience".

"It was very nerve-wracking," Harriet told the BBC.

She said she was "very excited" to have been given the part and that Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman were "lovely" to work with.

Speaking ahead of a private screening for friends and family at a cinema in Macclesfield, Emma said she felt "overwhelmingly proud" of her daughter.

"When I got a phone call from the casting agent they asked whether I was sitting down.

"That's when they told me Harriet had got the part - I couldn't believe it."

She said: "From recording the self-tape, to hearing that the casting directors wanted to see Harriet in person and going down to London, every step of the way has been an incredible experience.

"We got to go down to the Warner Brothers studios for her costume design and fitting, hair and makeup, and then going on set was amazing.

"Don't get me wrong, there's been nerves, but Harriet has taken it all in her stride."
