‘We the Leaders’ to debut in TN local body poll: K Annamalai
K Annamalai says ‘We the Leaders’ will debut in upcoming local body elections, expand leaders across TN, and focus on issues like jobs and climate action.
TRICHY: Former IPS officer and founder of ‘We the Leaders’ movement, K Annamalai, said in Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district on Tuesday that his outfit will make its debut in electoral politics by contesting the upcoming local body election.Stating that ‘one Annamalai’ is insufficient to bring in real change, the former BJP state president said that to aspire for a real alternative politics, multiple leaders for the movement should emerge from all 234 constituencies.“In the last assembly election, candidates who we asked the people to vote for, including in Mannargudi and Dharapuram, switched parties even before the ink on their fingers dried. Our movement was formed to break such deplorable politics. There is no harm in enjoying films and people from the film industry entering politics. People like them and they vote. But in the 2031 assembly election, voters should be clear as to what kind of change awaits them for their votes,” he said.“Solutions for issues like global warming and local employment generation are needed,” Annamalai said.“We the Leaders and its successive political movement will bring a change to every village. After the local body elections, we will contest in the next assembly election too,” Annamalai said.He insisted his followers commit to public causes such as planting tree saplings, cleaning religious sites, and desilting water bodies to show results instead of blaming and complaining.Annamalai was at Thalaiyamangalam village near Mannargudi to participate in a mass tree plantation drive organized by his movement to raise 15,000 tree saplings on 11 acres. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Trichy | Silver Rate in Trichy | Bank Holidays in Trichy | Public Holidays in TrichyStay updated with the latest Trichy news.
