UP man kills father with brick, axe over money dispute, goes to sleep after attack

KANPUR: Police arrested a man for allegedly killing his 84-year-old father with a brick and an axe following a dispute over money in Para Ojhi village in Hamirpur’s Sadar Kotwali area on Wednesday night.Police said Ramzan allegedly attacked Nawab Ali, causing serious injuries to his head and face, after their dispute escalated. Nawab Ali was found dead on a cot inside the house on Thursday morning, while Ramzan had gone to sleep after the attack.Nawab Ali lived with his two sons. His elder son, Shamsuddin, is the gram pradhan, while Ramzan is the younger son. Family members said Ramzan had been ill and needed money for treatment and other expenses. He had been trying to secure a loan and had sought money from his father.Ramzan had also spoken to Shamsuddin about the loan three to four days earlier. Tension over money had persisted in the family since then.Shamsuddin informed police after the body was discovered. Villagers gathered at the house, where a blood-stained guma was found near the scene. Injuries were visible on Nawab Ali’s head and near his eye.CO Sadar Yashpal Singh and Additional Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar Verma inspected the scene and questioned family members and villagers. A field unit collected possible evidence, while a dog squad examined the surrounding area.Police took the body into custody for post-mortem examination after completing panchanama proceedings. An FIR was being registered on the basis of the family’s complaint.Singh said the preliminary investigation indicated a dispute over a money transaction.
