At least 16 people, including five police personnel, were killed and dozens injured in a suicide blast at a mosque during Friday prayers at the Kohat Police Lines in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of northwest Pakistan, as reported by the Dawn.Videos showed extensive destruction at the mosque near the old Police Lines, around 60 kilometres southwest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's capital Peshawar, following the explosion.Social media footage showed the mosque’s roof had collapsed, with rescuers and residents pulling injured people from the rubble and carrying them to ambulances.No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.Citing District Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Tahir Ali Shah, Geo News reported that 15 bodies were brought to the hospital along with more than 50 injured following the blast.Police said most of those injured were worshippers, adding that the explosion caused a crater outside the mosque.Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi said rescue teams reached the site shortly after receiving information about the blast and launched a rescue operation, as cited by PTI.He said several of the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for initial medical treatment.Faizi said rescue teams remained at the scene and were assessing the situation.Catch the latest World News and Live updates.
