Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Thursday arrested a revenue employee-cum-in-charge circle inspector of Arwal circle office for allegedly accepting a Rs16,000 bribe to conduct the measurement of a complainant’s ancestral land.The accused, Shivmangal Prasad, was caught during a trap operation at Ojha Bigha Mor in Arwal district in connection with a vigilance case registered on Sept 30.According to the bureau, complainant Rabindra Prasad of Umairabad village had applied online for the measurement of his ancestral land. He alleged that despite the application remaining pending for a long time, Shivmangal demanded money to process the measurement.The complaint was verified by the bureau, which found the bribery allegation prima facie true. Subsequently, a team led by DSP Mohd Wasim Firoz was constituted and laid a trap.Vigilance officials said Shivmangal was arrested while allegedly accepting the bribe amount. He will be produced before the Special Vigilance Court in Patna after interrogation.The bureau said the arrest was its 105th trap case of 2026, with 105 accused persons caught while allegedly accepting bribes.
