NEW DELHI: An IndiGo flight from Delhi, en-route to Chennai, was diverted and made an emergency landing in Hyderabad on Sunday after smoke was detected onboard. The plane landed safely.A passenger's powerbank is set to have caught fire inside the cabin, forcing the plane to make an emergency diversion to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, Hyderabad.According to official reports and the airline, smoke began coming from the electronic device mid-flight, prompting an immediate response from the crew. The pilots diverted the aircraft as a precaution, following standard aviation safety procedures."IndiGo flight 6E 6115, operating from Delhi to Chennai on October 11, 2026, was diverted to Hyderabad after smoke was detected from a customer's personal electronic device. The cabin crew responded promptly and the situation was brought under control," Indigo said in a statement, as quoted by ANI."In line with established protocols, the pilots diverted the flight and landed safely at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad," it added, while stating that an alternative aircraft was arranged for passengers to travel to Chennai.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
