Russian attacks on Ukraine leave several injured in multiple regions

Russia has attacked critical infrastructure in the Poltava, Sumy and Kherson regions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday, as the two countries continued their reciprocal airstrikes on targets deep in each other's territory.

Five people were injured in attacks on the Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions, Zelensky said on social media. There was also damage caused by attacks in the Odessa region, he added.

Local authorities said that warehouses in Boryspil district east of Kiev caught fire following Russian attacks. At least two people had been injured, they said. Falling debris had also caused damage to several buildings in Kiev itself.

In the centre of the city of 3 million people, the military administration said a sports facility was damaged in the city centre. Pictures on social media showed a cloud of smoke near the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium on the edge of the government district.

The Ukrainian air force said it had intercepted seven ballistic missiles. It also said an Oniks anti-ship missile had been shot down.

According to Ukrainian sources, about 86% of the drones used by the Russian military were intercepted.

Five Russian drones also briefly violated Moldova's airspace, Moldova's Defence Ministry in Chișinău said.

Ukraine in turn continued its attacks on warehouses belonging to Russian online retailers.

In the Ural region, a logistics centre of Ozon, Russia's second-largest online marketplace, was attacked by Ukrainian drones. The company said a distribution centre in Orenburg, near the Kazakh border, also had to be briefly evacuated due to a missile threat. However, there were no casualties or damage.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for more than four and a half years. Kiev's counterstrikes have focussed on oil infrastructure, and more recently on Russian online retailers.
