Left parties field 20 candidates for GVMC elections

Visakhapatnam: Left parties, including the CPM and CPI, have fielded 20 candidates in the GVMC elections in Visakhapatnam. While 14 candidates are contesting from the CPM in different wards of the city, six belong to the CPI. Four AAP candidates are also in the fray. The Left parties have also announced support for independent candidate B Ramani from Ward 119.Addressing a press meet on Friday, CPM leader Ch Narsinga Rao and CPI state assistant secretary JV Satyanarayana Murthy, along with other Left and AAP leaders, called upon voters to defeat the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance.“The coalition is handing over public resources to corporates and increasing the burden on ordinary people. We appeal to people to elect our corporator candidates to ensure city development, pollution control and corruption-free governance,” the Left leaders said. The leaders said the CPM, CPI, MCPI, CPI (ML), Prajaporu, SUCI(C) and AAP had decided to contest the elections together to provide an alternative and accountable administration in the GVMC.“The state govt has failed to control rising air pollution and ensure an adequate drinking water supply in the city. Allocating green hills for data centres would only worsen pollution and water shortages. The government is granting permissions for data centre projects despite growing opposition to them worldwide. It has also failed to take adequate measures to control the rising prices of essential commodities. The Left parties played a key role in improving drinking water supply through the Purushothapatnam lift scheme and in getting a GVMC resolution against privatisation of the Visakhapatnam steel plant,” they added. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Vijayawada | Silver Rate in Vijayawada | Bank Holidays in Vijayawada | Public Holidays in Vijayawada | Petrol Price in Vijayawada | Diesel Price in Vijayawada | CNG Price in Vijayawada | LPG Price in VijayawadaStay updated with the latest Vijayawada news.
