NEW DELHI: BJP candidate Kailashchand in Rajasthan's urban local body elections found himself at the centre of attention after the results declared that he had received only one vote from the ward that he contested.Kailashchand contested from Ward 13 of the Parbatsar municipality in Didwana-Kuchaman district.According to the state election commission website, Congress candidate Hina Khanam won the ward with 376 votes, while Independent candidate Rashid Khan finished second with 195 votes.Kailashchand told news agency PTI that he was a voter in Ward 12, but the BJP fielded him from the neighbouring Ward 13."I got one vote. My vote is in Ward 12. I was fielded from Ward 13. Someone from that ward has voted for me," he said.The Parbatsar municipality has 25 wards, of which Congress won 13 and the BJP 12.Kailashchand's one-vote tally stood out as counting continued for 309 urban local bodies across Rajasthan.More than 10,000 councillor posts were at stake in the elections.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
