Arunachal cabinet approves key reforms in technical education & healthcare
Arunachal cabinet okays AICTE-based recruitment rules for technical colleges, Women Helpline 181 posts, new food safety officers, and leprosy staff pay hike.
Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by chief minister Pema Khandu, on Sunday approved a series of measures to strengthen technical education, improve healthcare delivery, enhance women’s safety and streamline institutional administration across the state.The Cabinet approved uniform recruitment rules for 12 categories of teaching and technical posts in govt engineering and polytechnic colleges in line with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Regulations, 2019.The rules will apply to posts including principals, professors, associate professors, assistant professors, workshop superintendents, assistant librarians, laboratory assistants, senior technical assistants, system analysts and heads of departments.The move is aimed at ensuring greater transparency, uniformity and merit-based recruitment in technical education institutions.To strengthen support services for women, the Cabinet sanctioned 20 posts for implementing the Women Helpline-181 scheme under Mission Shakti. The 24-hour toll-free helpline will provide assistance to women in distress and connect them with medical care, shelter, legal aid, counselling and emotional support.The Cabinet also approved the creation of five Food Safety Officer posts under the Group B, Gazetted Non-Ministerial category to address staff shortages and strengthen food-safety monitoring and enforcement.In another healthcare-related decision, it approved an increase in grade pay for various categories of employees working under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme. The measure is intended to ensure wage parity, improve staff morale and strengthen patient care and rehabilitation services.The Cabinet also approved the renaming of three educational institutions in honour of prominent personalities.
