NEW DELHI: Actor Prakash Raj has urged people to join an anti-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) protest in Kochi on Saturday, November 7, saying citizens must come together to “save our democracy”.In a video message on X, the actor appealed to students, young people, civil society members and representatives of various organisations to participate in the demonstration against the SIR exercise.“It's very important that we come together and raise our voice to save our democracy,” Raj said, calling on people to join the protest peacefully. Criticising the government and the Election Commission, he added, “We will not tolerate killing democracy.”Titled “Jantar Mantar at Kochi”, the protest will be held at Rajendra Maidan from 4 pm, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced in a post on X.CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, its south zone lead Vijay Mallangi and national secretary Aafreen Nawaz are expected to attend the event. The Kochi protest comes after CJP members were detained in Delhi while attempting to hold a demonstration against chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the SIR exercise.Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were detained for protesting without permission. Das and Ranka were subsequently arrested after entering the denotified Jantar Mantar site and waving the national flag.
