Live updates: Trump attends Presidents Cup final; top Iranian officials set for US interviews

President Trump is slated to attend the final round of the Presidents Cup golf tournament in Chicago Sunday morning, roughly a month after PGA Tour named him the event’s honorary chair.

Trump last attended the competition in 2017 during his first term, where he presented the trophy to the winning team . It is unclear whether he will do the same during this year’s visit, though the USA TODAY Network’s Golfweek reported that he requested to deliver a 15-minute speech at some point during the competition.

The competition, at Chicago’s Medinah Country Club, will begin just after noon EDT.

Over the past week, the president has engaged in several high-stakes meetings with foreign officials, most notably a three-day visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City continues through Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is set to appear on CBS News’s “Face the Nation” Sunday morning, a day after Trump rejected Iran’s seven-day proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and enter a ceasefire. Another Islamic Republic official, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, is scheduled for an interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press.”

A number of Trump administration officials and lawmakers — such as Attorney General Todd Blanche, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) and Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) — are also set for Sunday morning news show appearances.
