Trump appoints Adam Telle as acting US army secretary

US president Donald Trump said Thursday that he was appointing a new acting secretary of the US Army.“I am pleased to announce that Adam Telle, the current Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, will become Acting Secretary of the Army, effective immediately,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform. “He is a Great Patriot, who is respected by all.”This comes shortly after Dan Driscoll stepped down as the top civilian official following reported disagreements with Pentagon leadership.Telle was sworn in as assistant aecretary of the army for Civil Works in August 2025 after securing confirmation from the US Senate. He spent much of his career working as a congressional aide.Driscoll’s resignation is the latest departure of a senior US military official under Trump.Driscoll, a former law school classmate of Vice President JD Vance, had reportedly benefited from their relationship within the administration but later clashed with defence secretary Pete Hegseth.Catch the latest World News and Live updates.
