Delhi shuts liquor stores on October 9, 10 ahead of CJP protest
Delhi declares dry days on Oct 9-10 as all retail liquor stores shut citywide amid planned protests; bars, restaurants and clubs operate normally.
NEW DELHI: All liquor stores in the whole of the city limits will be closed on Oct 9 and 10 in the wake of planned protests called by Cockroach Janta Party and others on Oct 10 against alleged irregularities in SIR and in support of their call and demands to seek the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.“In view of the prevailing situation and inputs received from Delhi Police, as a preventive measure aimed at maintaining public order, it is hereby ordered that all retail liquor vends with licenses in Form L6, L6& L6FG, L8, L10 and L8 & L14 operating in Delhi will be completely closed on 09.10.2026 and 10.10.2026,” a circular dated Oct 8 issued by the excise department stated.L-6 licences are issued for retail sale of Indian liquor through authorised vends, while L-6FG relates to retail sale of foreign liquor.L-8 licences cover retail sale of country liquor while L-10 is associated with retail sale of liquor from outlets located inside malls and L-14 licence is for sale of beer from country liquor outlets. While the retail liquor stores will be closed, the sale of liquor will continue to operate normally from licensed restaurants, bars and clubs, clarified an official.“The closure of all retail liquor stores is a preemptive move to prevent any disruption to public order. The stores in whole of Delhi have been closed because Delhi is a city state that is why localised closure of liquor stores may not serve the purpose fully,” said an official. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Delhi | Silver Rate in Delhi | Bank Holidays in Delhi | Public Holidays in Delhi | Delhi AQI | Weather in Delhi | Petrol Price in Delhi | Diesel Price in Delhi | CNG Price in Delhi | LPG Price in DelhiStay updated with the latest Delhi news.
