Two dead and warehouse ablaze in Russia after Ukrainian drone strikes

Two people have been killed in a new wave of Ukrainian drone strikes on targets in Russia, news agency Interfax reported on Wednesday, citing officials.

The governor of Russia's Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov, said a man and a 14-year-old girl were killed after a drone crashed into their house, setting it on fire, according to Interfax.

The Defence Ministry in Moscow said on Wednesday that 426 Ukrainian drones had been intercepted and destroyed overnight.

The capital was also among the targets, while airports in Tambov, Nizhny Novgorod and Yaroslavl temporarily suspended take-offs and landings due to air raid alerts.

In the Tambov region, some 600 kilometres south-east of Moscow, a warehouse belonging to the major Russian online retailer Wildberries was targeted. The drone attack caused a fire at the warehouse in Kotovsk, which spread to 100,000 square metres, the region's governor, Yevgeny Pervyshov, said.

Strikes were also launched at Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. Three Ukrainian Flamingo cruise missiles were intercepted over the Black Sea, the Moscow-installed governor of the port city of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, wrote on social media.
