VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan denies Trichy East bypoll bid, urges Union and Tamil Nadu governments to curb inflation and protect essentials prices.
Trichy: VCK chief and Chidambaram MP Thol Thirumavalavan has ruled out contesting in any assembly by-election and refuted reports linking him as the TVK-led alliance candidate for Trichy East bypoll.Speaking to reporters at Trichy airport on Saturday, he said, “I have already made it clear that I am not contesting by-elections. I am firm on that stance.” He added that those who do not like him spread such rumours. The MP said that governments have responsibilities to check the rising inflation level, to control the prices of essential commodities and safeguard common people. “Governments must pay attention to the inflation rate. Appropriate measures must be taken by both the Union and the state governments irrespective of factors behind it,” Thirumavalavan said.On reports that the BJP-led Union govt was planning for a special Parliament session to pass the controversial delimitation bill, the VCK leader insisted the existing number of MPs be retained, and there is no need to increase the number. He expressed confidence in the DMK’s stand against the bill. “We believe that DMK will remain firm in the same position they were in opposing the delimitation exercise,” Thirumavalavan added. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Trichy | Silver Rate in Trichy | Bank Holidays in Trichy | Public Holidays in TrichyStay updated with the latest Trichy news.
