It was the end of a long Fourth of July weekend in 2002 when the awful discovery was made. Mike Sisco and Karen Harkness, a couple deeply in love, were found murdered in the basement of Karen’s home in a quiet neighborhood of Topeka, Kansas. It was a horrible scene. Both Mike and Karen had been shot multiple times. The Topeka Police Department immediately launched an investigation to find the killer. But they had no idea that an investigative and legal saga was just beginning. And it would take more than 20 years and trial after trial after trial to finally get justice.
