NEW DELHI: New CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde has announced a protest in Mumbai against the detention of leaders and protesters across Delhi and other parts of the country, alleging that the government is clamping down on democracy.In a post on X, Shinde said protesters would assemble at T Junction in Shivaji Park at 4 pm on Sunday. He added that protests had begun across the country and more cities would join soon.“Every Indian is angry that their beloved country is being turned into a Dictatorship by Modi and Shah. The manner in which tens of thousands of people were detained yesterday across Delhi and India will not go unchallenged. Across the country protests have started against the Dictatorship,” he wrote.“The Govt has made a big mistake by arresting our leaders and clamping down on democracy. Gaddar Gyaanu Must Resign!” Shinde added.Shinde was announced as CJP’s new leader in a pre-recorded video by Abhijeet Dipke.In the video, Dipke said Shinde would lead the organisation’s protest at Jantar Mantar until he, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and co-convener Ashutosh Ranka were released from detention. Dipke had recorded the video on Friday in anticipation of a possible arrest.Meanwhile, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Dipke and party leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das have been placed under preventive arrest and will be produced before an executive magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station on Saturday, Delhi Police said.The arrests come amid heightened security in the national capital ahead of the party’s proposed ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Mumbai local train services to be affected by megablocks amid CJP protestMumbai local train services will be affected by megablocks on Sunday amid the CJP protest.On the Central Main Line, slow-line services between Matunga and Mulund will be diverted to the fast lines from 11.05 am to 3.55 pm.On the Harbour Line, services between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Chunabhatti/Bandra will remain suspended on the Down line from 11.40 am to 4.40 pm and on the Up line from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm.Harbour Line passengers will be allowed to travel via the Main Line and Western Railway routes between 10 am and 6 pm.Trans-Harbour and Port Line services will operate as per schedule.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
