DMK legislators were bundled out of the Tamil Nadu assembly on Tuesday following intense protests demanding the expunging of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s remarks regarding former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, late Union Minister Murasoli Maran, the Sarkaria Commission, and ED dossiers in recent cases. The situation turned chaotic after Speaker J C D Prabhakar refused to expunge the remarks, ruling that Vijay had merely cited the Sarkaria Commission, which had been discussed at length in the House previously. Declaring that there was no need to expunge the remarks, the Speaker gave his ruling, triggering further escalation as DMK members upped the ante, raised slogans, and brought the proceedings to a standstill by sitting in the well of the House. The Speaker urged the protesting members to return to their seats, offering to allow DMK whip E V Velu and deputy leader of the opposition K N Nehru to speak on the issue. However, the DMK members refused to yield and continued their agitation."I will not reverse my ruling," Speaker Prabhakar asserted before ordering the marshals to remove the unyielding members. He also cautioned Kallakurichi MLA Vasantham K Karthikeyan against approaching the chair.Marshals subsequently entered the House and physically removed the protesting MLAs, carrying out members including Kutty (Valparai), Durai Chandrasekaran (Thiruvaiyaru), Vasantham Karthikeyan (Rishivandiyam) and a few more who refused to budge from the well. The disruption halted assembly proceedings around 10:03 am, following earlier heated exchanges between former ministers Velu and Nehru and ministers Aadhav Arjuna and R Nirmalkumar.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
