BENGALURU: Instances of name mismatch in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls continue to create waves of confusion among VIP families. Days after Bharat Ratna CNR Rao and actor Shivarajkumar figured in the verification exercise, it’s the turn of the Karnataka chief minister’s mother and Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani to produce documents over logical discrepancies in voter records. In none of these cases, VIPs and their family members were called to the BBMP offices. While the Nilekani family has completed verification, Zerodha’s Kamath brothers and their mother are awaiting clarity.Bengaluru South district election officers said the name of DK Shivakumar’s mother Gowramma was flagged for mismatch in Kanakapura assembly constituency. However, she was not among those served notice. “The confusion arose from names with similar spellings. Reports on the visual media are not factually correct,” an officer said.Officials said three voters named Gowramma are listed in part no. 249 of Kanakapura constituency. The CM’s mother, Gowramma w/o Kempegowda, is listed at serial no. 1 with EPIC ZVG4032298. Notices were issued to the other two voters with the same name.In the case of the Nilekanis, SIR verification was completed Thursday. Officials said notices had been generated for Nilekani and his family under the no-mapping category. Since Nilekani falls under the VIP category, the booth-level officer visited his residence to complete verification.Nilekani’s staff sought copies of the notices before submitting documents, including details of the family’s enrolment in the 2002 rolls. The BLO later delivered the notices and returned on Thursday to collect the documents and complete the process. The Nilekanis are enrolled in Koramangala under BTM Layout assembly constituency.Ramesh KN, additional district election officer, Bengaluru South, said there was confusion over reports of notices issued to Zerodha founders Nikhil and Nithin Kamath. Officials from Bengaluru South City Corporation and urban district administration contacted their mother, Revathi Kamath, who clarified that the family had not received any notices. “We are verifying whether notices were generated in their names,” he said. Nithin, Nikhil and Revathi Kamath have been flagged over parents’ name mismatch in Bengaluru South constituency. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Bengaluru | Silver Rate in Bengaluru | Bank Holidays in Bengaluru | Public Holidays in Bengaluru | Bengaluru AQI | Weather in Bengaluru | Petrol Price in Bengaluru | Diesel Price in Bengaluru | CNG Price in Bengaluru | LPG Price in BengaluruStay updated with the latest Bengaluru news.
