NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and party leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das have been placed under preventive arrest and will be produced before an executive magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station on Saturday, Delhi Police said. The development comes amid heightened security in the national capital ahead of the party’s proposed ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Delhi Police had denied permission for the proposed demonstration, citing law-and-order concerns, public safety and possible inconvenience to residents. The party had planned to demand Kumar’s resignation and the scrapping of the SIR exercise.CJP’s legal head Ratna Singh, in a post on X, said the three leaders would be produced before the executive magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station at 9am.“Abhijeet, Ashutosh and Saurav will be produced before the Executive Magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station at 9 AM today,” Singh wrote, adding that a Delhi Police official had informed her about the development that morning.
