Bhopal: A dispute over the quantity of fried momos to be served on a Rs 20 plate took a violent turn in Gwalior on Sunday evening, after the street vendor allegedly threw steaming oil at a customer who asked for an extra momo.The boiling hot oil scalded the face and an ear of the customer, an 18-year-old student. The incident was reported at a food vendor’s on the Purani Resham Mill intersection in the Hazira police station limits of Gwalior.The customer, identified as Shiva aka Chetan Bhadauria, was rushed to a hospital by his friend.According to the complaint, Shiva stopped by the vendor, Ankit Momo’s cart, with his friends Golu Khan and Vikas Rajput. After ordering a platter worth Rs 20, Shiva raised an objection over the quantity served with the vendor, Ankit.The two got into a heated exchange during which the vendor allegedly abused the teen. As Shiva objected to being abused, the dispute escalated with the two allegedly coming to blows.As the fight unfolded, Ankit allegedly picked up the frying pan with steaming oil and emptied it on Shiva, leaving the latter with severe burns on his face and ear.His friends rushed to his help, while his father, too, reached the spot after which he was taken to a hospital.Hazira police said a case had been registered against the vendor on a complaint lodged by Shiva and his friends.
