Patrick Clancy and new wife to give first interview since mistrial: 'I don't understand how the story has been so twisted'

Patrick Clancy will give his first televised interview following the murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, to "60 Minutes" on CBS News this weekend.

The father, who will speak about the grief of losing his three children, as well as the social media conspiracy theories that have dogged him in recent weeks , will be joined by his new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, when the program airs Sunday.

Lindsay Clancy's case has drawn widespread media attention, with the former labor and delivery nurse facing murder charges over the deaths of her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan, whom she admitted killing in 2023.

The trial sought to answer whether Clancy was legally responsible for the deaths, with her defense arguing she had been suffering from postpartum psychosis.

The case resulted in a mistrial on Sept. 4, after the jury remained deadlocked, with one holdout refusing to find Clancy not criminally responsible for the children's deaths. The case is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 29, when prosecutors are expected to say whether they will seek a retrial .

Patrick Clancy's wife addresses conspiracy theories

In a clip shared with Yahoo News, Dr. Rachel Danis describes her husband, whom she married in April 2026, as "the most selfless father and supportive partner."

The pair is expected to push back on the online speculation that has swirled around their relationship since it became public. "I don't understand how the story has been so twisted," Dr. Danis says in the program. "I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that."

The interview also promises to address the "vile" conspiracy theories that have followed the family online. Patrick Clancy has faced a wave of online misinformation, including false claims that he was linked to the deaths of his children.

His attorney, Howard Cooper, has called for an end to "these blatant falsehoods," threatening legal action against those responsible.

More than three years after their deaths, Patrick Clancy reflects in the interview on how he remains connected to his children.

In released excerpts, Clancy tells correspondent Ross Douthat that he still talks to his children "all the time."

"I like to believe they do. It's a way I stay connected to them," Clancy replies.

Clancy tearfully recalls his youngest son's final days

While Patrick Clancy's two eldest children, Cora and Dawson, were pronounced dead the night of the attack, his youngest child, Callan, was taken to the ICU and placed on a ventilator. He died three days later.

In released clips, Clancy is seen growing emotional as he recalls his youngest son's final days in the ICU at Boston Children's Hospital.

Testifying during the trial, Clancy had said Callan "was just a happy baby."

The interview will revisit the night of Jan. 24, 2023, when Patrick Clancy returned home and found his three children in the basement after calling 911 for Lindsay, who had jumped from a second-floor window.

In his testimony , Clancy said he found his then-wife injured in the backyard of their home in Duxbury, Mass. Patrick Clancy then told the dispatcher he was going to check on the children. Moments later, he cried out after finding them in the basement.

According to CBS News , Clancy spoke at length in the "60 Minutes" interview about what happened in the moments after he arrived home that night, although no quotes have yet been released.

The full interview will air Sunday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network and will also stream on Paramount+.
