Michigan State women's soccer is off to a hot and fast start to the 2026 season, and the recent rankings reflect that run.

After opening the season with a 2-0 win over Xavier, a team that received votes in the polls, the Spartans followed that up with a 1-0 win over Loyola Chicago, getting a quick 2-0 start at home. The biggest challenge of the young season came with a road trip to Chapel Hill, where the Spartans squared off with No. 6 North Carolina.

The Spartans defeated the Tar Heels, 3-2, earning a marquee win and a massive resume boost just a couple of weeks into the season.

Now, the latest United Coaches rankings came out and it has Michigan State ranked as the No. 3 team in the nation, trailing just Duke and Stanford.

The Spartans will be back in action this week with a pair of home games, hosting Eastern Michigan on Thursday before hosting No. 12 Colorado on Sunday.
