Cars of Maharashtra ex-minister Dilip Kamble vandalised outside his residence

PUNE: Two cars belonging to former minister of state and BJP leader Dilip Kamble were vandalised by unidentified persons outside his residence in Ghorpadi late Wednesday night. The incident took place at a housing society on BT Kawade Road.According to police, Kamble had gone out with his family on Wednesday evening. Between 8pm and 9pm, unidentified persons allegedly attacked the two cars parked outside his house with stones and bamboo sticks.Kamble said the vandalism appeared to be a deliberate and pre-planned attempt to target him. He also expressed concern over the cutting of CCTV wires at his residence.“We had gone out around 8pm and returned around 9pm, only to find that our vehicles had been vandalised. I feel this was a deliberate and pre-planned attempt to attack me. The windshields of the vehicles were damaged and the CCTV wires had also been cut, so footage was also not available,” Kamble said.He added that he had no personal enmity with anyone and was unable to understand the motive behind the attack.Kamble subsequently lodged a complaint at Mundhwa police station. Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area and other evidence to identify the suspects.An officer from the Mundhwa police said none of the other vehicles parked in the society were targeted and only Kamble’s two cars were vandalised.Kamble, a former MLA, served as minister in the BJP-led govt during Devendra Fadnavis’s first term from 2014 to 2019. He was later replaced by his younger brother, Sunil Kamble, who is currently serving his second term as BJP MLA from the Pune Cantonment constituency.Smita Wasnik, senior police inspector of the Mundhwa police, said a non-cognisable offence had been registered against unidentified persons based on Kamble’s complaint.“We have also checked CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.
