Trichy: A windmill tower manufacturing unit in Thanjavur rolled out a 5.3 MW capacity turbine on Monday. The modern wind tower was manufactured by Velmurugan Heavy Engineering Industries, a facility inaugurated by chief minister Joseph Vijay during the Vettri Thamizhagam conclave in Aug. The turbine was developed by Venwind Refex Power Limited for Jindal Renewables. The equipment will be commissioned at Aravakurichi near Karur. The first unit was flagged off by Archit Khemka, director of Venwind Refex. The turbine incorporates LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology to enable more accurate wind measurement and optimisation of performance, aimed at improving energy capture and plant load factor (PLF).“This rollout is a significant milestone for Tamil Nadu’s engineering and renewable-energy manufacturing ecosystem. The ability to manufacture towers for higher-capacity and next-generation wind turbines demonstrate the depth of capabilities that have been built within the state,” said Karthik M Manoharan, director of Velmurugan industries and chairperson of CII Tamil Nadu task force on renewable energy. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Trichy | Silver Rate in Trichy | Bank Holidays in Trichy | Public Holidays in TrichyStay updated with the latest Trichy news.
