Chennai: Two LPG cylinders exploded one after another after a fire broke out in a thatched house at Mogappair West on Sunday morning. No casualties were reported. aPolice said Geetha, 40, a flower vendor, was living with her son and daughter in a thatched house in Mogappair West near Ambattur. Her daughter was sleeping inside the house when she noticed thick black smoke billowing from the premises. She immediately rushed out to safety.Within minutes, the flames spread rapidly, engulfing the entire house. Two LPG cylinders kept inside exploded with loud blasts, sending residents in the neighbourhood running for safety.The explosions also caused panic at a nearby church, where a large number of devotees had gathered for Sunday prayers. Hearing the blasts, worshippers rushed out of the church. On receiving information, fire and rescue services personnel from Ambattur Industrial Estate and JJ Nagar rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after an hour.
