Met to re-examine CCTV footage from unsolved Jill Dando murder
Police are reviewing footage of a man at Putney Bridge station after the Crimewatch presenter was shot in 1999.
The Met Police has confirmed it will re-examine CCTV footage relating to the unsolved murder of Jill Dando, 27 years ago.
The BBC presenter and journalist was shot dead with a single bullet on her doorstep in Fulham in April 1999 . Despite one of the biggest and most high-profile murder investigations in British history, the case remains unsolved.
A Met spokesperson said recent advancements in CCTV enhancement technology had "provided investigators with the opportunity to re-examine original footage from Putney Bridge train station".
The CCTV includes an unidentified man who was seen sprinting near the scene of the shooting, 20 minutes after the event.
The Met said in the 27 years since Dando's death, the investigation had been "subject to numerous reviews", aiming to identify whether matters could be progressed with advances in technology and forensics.
It warned this latest review was part of "ongoing inquiries and should not be interpreted as a significant line of inquiry nor as a new investigation being opened on this matter".

The TV presenter and newsreader was born in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, and worked for the BBC for 14 years.
She was 37 when she died on the doorstep of her home on Gowan Avenue.
Soon after her death, a man of Serbian descent called the BBC claiming she had been executed in a revenge hit for the UK-backed Nato bombing of Serbia's state broadcaster in Belgrade.
However, Barry George, a local man, was convicted of her murder and spent eight years in jail before being acquitted at a retrial in 2008.
Dando's partner, Alan Farthing, was interviewed by the police, along with her ex-partner and BBC Breakfast news editor Bob Wheaton. Also interviewed was her agent Jon Roseman, who had written a crime novel detailing a very similar scene.
Her killing was the subject of a Netflix documentary Who Killed Jill Dando? in 2023.
