Favourite trees sought for Guernsey art project

People have been asked to name their favourite trees in Guernsey as part of new art installation.

As part of its forthcoming exhibition Guernsey's Iconic Trees, Art for Guernsey has invited people to send in photographs of trees that may have personal significance to them.

It said, in addition to the photos, people were being encouraged to send a close-up photograph of one of its leaves and the story behind it.

Once the submissions had been received, it said French artist Anna van der Hoek would create an original linocut of the tree, to be added to a growing leporello - an accordion-like, never-ending artist's book.

Art for Guernsey said people could add their tree to the project themselves by using a leaf stamp, so the work could continue to grow as more people contributed to it.

It said all submissions needed to be sent by 4 October.
