'Bharat Mata Ki Jai': Kangana Ranaut hits back at Rahul Gandhi amid 'smash patriarchy' row

NEW DELHI: Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi amid the controversy over his “smash the patriarchy” remark.Ranaut’s response also came after Rahul Gandhi weighed in on the row over her comments about actor Kriti Sanon’s outfit in a Raksha Bandhan advertisement, with the Lok Sabha leader of the opposition saying that “what a woman wears is her own choice.”On her Instagram Stories, the Mandi MP reshared a post from the BJP’s official Instagram handle in response to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. The post featured an image of the Congress leader asking a woman to “smash the patriarchy”, to which she replied, “Bro, wait. Bharat Mata ki jai shuru karte hain.”The exchange continues with "Rahul Gandhi" repeatedly urging the woman to “smash the patriarchy”, while she responds by raising issues such as the Women’s Reservation Bill, triple talaq, the Shah Bano case, and the fact that Karnataka, a Congress-ruled state, has no woman minister.The controversy stems from Rahul Gandhi’s remarks at his “Chhatron Ki Goonj” event in Pune on August 22. Calling women “the biggest asset of India”, he claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi experienced a “cultural shock” when some female protesters at the recent student demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar allegedly used abusive language against the prime minister.PM Modi “forgave” the women but had no issue with male protesters using the same language, he added.“Our fight is against such a mindset. We do not want a country which gives all the freedom to men, while women continue to live in a controlled environment.
