A 12-year-old girl was killed and three others were injured when gunfire erupted amid an apparent dispute over parking at a Baltimore park Saturday, officials said. Police Commissioner Richard Worley said two gunmen were being sought, and two different gun cartridges were found at the scene after the shooting near Leon Day Park. “What we know is that there was some type of argument between two cowards, and of course they both opened fire on each other,” the commissioner said at a Saturday night news conference. “In the crossfire, a 12-year-old little girl, who was probably down there watching football, was shot and killed.” Baltimore police said in a statement that a 25-year-old woman and two men, ages 23 and 28, were also struck. The woman was with the girl, Worley said. Worley said the adult victims had non-life-threatening injuries. The commissioner said, “The dispute most likely occurred from a stupid parking spot.” The mayor of Baltimore, Brandon M. Scott, expressed disgust at the situation and likened the gunmen to cowards, during the evening news conference. “Two men, or so-called men, got into a argument, and now this baby is gone,” he said. Coach Mark Brown of the Charm City Buccaneers youth football league said the gunfire broke out mid-game. “Some miscellaneous outsiders caused this situation,” he told NBC affiliate WBAL-TV at the scene. “It wasn’t us.” He said the youth league has operated for 29 years without something like this happening. “We strive to give back to the youth,” he said. He added, “This happened over a parking spot. It was avoidable.”
