Iran targets US allies in Gulf after latest strikes

Iran launched missiles and drones at U.S. allies and military bases across the Middle East early Wednesday, in retaliation for the renewed wave of U.S. strikes targeting Iran late Tuesday as the war stretches into its seventh month.

Tehran said it targeted U.S. assets in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Iraq, just hours after the U.S. military struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) sites along Iran’s southern coast, including hitting a wedding that left several dead.

The IRGC noted in a statement reported by Iranian state media that the U.S. airstrike hit a residential home in Sirik, leaving at least four civilians dead and injuring dozens more.

The fresh U.S. attacks on Tuesday were themselves in retaliation for the Islamic Republic’s strikes U.S. military bases in Jordan earlier this week and military action in the Strait of Hormuz, according to U.S. Central Command (Centcom).

Centcom said U.S. forces struck IRGC air defense sites, radar and communications systems, maritime assets and mine-laying capabilities.

Iran responded early Wednesday with another round of attacks across the region.

The IRGC said it launched missiles and drones at Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, claiming it destroyed a command post, drone facilities and several other drones.

Kuwaiti authorities separately said an Iranian drone struck a residential complex early Wednesday, sparking a fire and causing damage but reported no casualties.

Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, said it intercepted incoming Iranian fire. Reuters reported that officials in Qatar, which has the largest U.S. airbase in the Gulf, is holding “the Islamic Republic of Iran fully legally responsible for these attacks and their repercussions and consequences.”

President Trump warned Tehran before its latest round of retaliatory strikes that further attacks would draw a stronger American response.

“If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings and, when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!” he wrote Tuesday on Truth Social.
