Nashik: To improve access to sanitation facilities for women across the city, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) administration has appealed to shopping malls, multiplexes, hotels, restaurants, petrol pumps and other commercial establishments to allow women to use their toilet facilities free of charge.Nashik municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri has urged all commercial establishments not to charge any fee for use of toilets by women and voluntarily support the initiative, which aims to ensure easy access to safe and clean toilets for women and girls travelling for work, education, shopping or any other activities in Nashik. The civic administration has requested establishments to maintain hygiene at the facilities, adequate water supply and proper lighting for women’s comfort while using the facilities. Commercial establishments have been asked to sensitise their staff and extend full cooperation to women and display signboards indicating that toilet facilities are available free of cost for women.Women often face difficulties in locating toilets while travelling within the city, particularly in busy commercial areas. The initiative intends to bridge this gap by utilising existing infrastructure available at commercial establishments and making Nashik a more women-friendly city.An NMC official said easy access to sanitation facilities remains an important aspect of creating a safe and inclusive urban environment, adding that the initiative supplements the existing public toilet network and is expected to improve convenience for women travelling long distances. The NMC operates a network of public sanitation facilities across the city. There are 466 public and community toilets with over 6,000 seats in Nashik. Of these, around 183 are public toilets in key public places, while 283 are community toilets in slum areas and residential localities.Community toilets are primarily used by local residents, whereas public toilets cater to commuters and visitors and are managed by private agencies appointed by the municipal corporation. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Nashik | Silver Rate in Nashik | Bank Holidays in Nashik | Public Holidays in Nashik | Petrol Price in Nashik | Diesel Price in Nashik | CNG Price in Nashik | LPG Price in NashikStay updated with the latest Nashik news.
