( KRON ) -- An employee at a high school in San Jose has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a student and recording the incident on his cellphone. The San Jose Police Department said that officers responded on Oct. 8 at 7:29 p.m. to a report of a sexual battery at a school in the 5000 block of Mitty Way, the location of Archbishop Mitty High School.

Responding officers spoke to a 16-year-old girl who told them that the suspect was providing care for her sports-related injury when he sexually assaulted her and recorded it.

The suspect, 31-year-old Kelvin Chiu, was identified as an athletic trainer for the school.

An investigation was launched by the SJPD Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Chiu, his residence and his vehicles.

On Oct. 9, officers found Chiu in Fremont and arrested him. Detectives also served a search warrant at his residence. During the course of the investigation, child sexual abuse material was found on the suspect's phone.

Chiu was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for crimes related to annoying or molest of a minor, production and possession of child sexual abuse material and sexual battery. The administration at the school where he worked was notified and is cooperating, police said.

Detectives believe that due to Chiu's position of trust at the school, there may be more victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the San Jose Police Department.
