The National Testing Agency (NTA) has concluded a four-day Chintan Shivir at its new premises on Minto Road, with discussions focused on how the agency conducts examinations, strengthens its systems and rebuilds trust among candidates. The exercise comes at a crucial point for the testing agency, which has faced scrutiny over alleged irregularities in major examinations, including the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG. The controversy had triggered nationwide protests and led to the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The Chintan Shivir brought NTA teams together to review its examination processes and discuss what needs to change as the agency looks to build what it described as a “New NTA”.Integrity, inclusion and innovation at the centreThe discussions were built around three priorities: integrity, inclusion and innovation.According to the NTA, teams examined how examinations are conducted, where existing systems can be strengthened and how the experience of candidates can be improved.Technology and improved processes were also discussed as tools to strengthen examination systems and build greater trust.“How are exams conducted? How can systems be strengthened? How can technology and better processes build trust?” were among the questions considered during the four-day exercise. The agency said the discussions were open and the questions were candid, with teams focusing on practical ways to improve its functioning.NTA looks to strengthen examination systemsThe Chintan Shivir is part of a broader effort to review how the NTA operates after a period of intense scrutiny. The agency has recently shifted its operations to a new office on Minto Road. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has also been deployed at the premises, including to secure confidential areas and strengthen arrangements around sensitive examination-related work.Against this backdrop, the discussions at the Chintan Shivir focused not only on individual examination processes but also on the systems supporting them. The NTA said the exercise was not limited to reviewing its current position. It was intended to define the direction in which the agency wants to move.Focus on candidate experience and trustCandidate experience emerged as another key area of discussion. For an examination agency handling some of the country's largest entrance and eligibility tests, the process extends beyond conducting an examination. The systems around registration, examination centres, technology, communication and grievance handling also shape how candidates experience the process. The NTA said the discussions examined how these areas could be improved and how stronger processes could help restore confidence in the examination system. The agency described the Chintan Shivir as an important step towards building a new NTA that is “stronger in its systems, transparent in its processes, responsive to candidates, and trusted by students and families across the country.”Get the latest Education News and Live updates.
