( NewsNation ) — A lawyer for one of the accused seven Chi Phi fraternity members in the Cornell gang rape case lashed out at Jane Doe’s attorney for an “orchestrated campaign” in a new court filing.

James C. Knox, a lawyer for Diego Sarabia, filed a request against Doe’s attorney, Thomas P. Giuffra, on October 9, asking the court to halt media appearances and comments related to the case.

Knox’s filing described Giuffra’s media appearances as “an orchestrated campaign from the outset.”

“There appears to be no end to plaintiff’s ongoing media campaign. The case is in its infancy. Certain parties have yet to even appear,” the filing reads. “No answers or responsive motions to the complaint have been filed and no discovery has been commenced.”

“Further similar media appearances by parties or their counsel risks further prejudice to the adjudicative process,” it continued.

Giuffra told NewsNation on Monday that the defense is “attempting to silence me.”

“The Defense has tried to rebut the claims in this case by engaging in a wholesale leaking of confidential documents, giving interviews calling Ms. Doe’s story into question and calling her lawsuit immoral,” he said.

Giuffra continued, “These attempts to shift the narrative have not been successful. The Defense is now attempting to silence me and Ms. Doe because we have been so successful in rebutting their ineffectual attempts to undermine her story. Truth always wins out.”

Doe accused seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity at Cornell University of drugging and raping her in October 2024. The case was reopened last month.
