Democrat Dan Koh is projected to win Massachusetts’s 6th District, taking over for Rep. Seth Moulton (D), according to Decision Desk HQ.
Koh, who previously served in the Biden White House, was widely expected to sail to victory after winning a tough primary battle earlier this year. He faced off against Republican Micah Jones, an Army veteran and attorney.
The Democrat was projected by DDHQ to win the seat with zero percent of the vote reported shortly after polls closed at 8 p.m. EST in Massachusetts.
The former Biden administration official had the support of a several high-profile Democrats from the last administration, including former President Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and former Labor Secretary Marty Walsh.
Koh served as chief of staff to Walsh when he was mayor of Boston. Ahead of the 2018 election, he launched a bid for Congress but ultimately came up short in the Democratic primary against Rep. Lori Trahan (Mass.).
He later joined the Biden administration, becoming Walsh’s chief of staff again at the Labor Department and eventually moving over to the White House to serve as deputy assistant to the president and deputy director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Koh takes over for Moulton, who left his forwent reelection to challenge Sen. Ed Markey in the Democratic Senate primary, failing to oust the two-term senator.
