Vice President Vance joked Thursday he is “jealous” President Trump has repeatedly praised other male politicians’ appearances, namely that of Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio), and not his own.

Asked by Fox News’s Jesse Watters during a town hall why the president continues to compliment Husted’s backside, Vance laughed it off, saying Trump is a comedian.

“Well, first of all, I’m jealous. The president’s never said that about me,” Vance said. “Get back in the gym maybe and draw that particular piece of praise.”

Throughout his October campaign rally blitz, Trump has shouted out several GOP lawmakers’ and candidates’ physiques, including Sens. Tim Sheehy (Mont.) and Bill Hagerty (Tenn.). But none have received as much attention as Husted.

“I made the mistake of saying that I started off by studying his a‑‑,” Trump said at a Tuesday rally in Texas.

“His a‑‑ is like, it’s like a pile of muscle,” the president said in North Carolina .

The Washington Post even joined into the bit , creating a quiz for readers about which men Trump has called attractive. The test highlights that not all of Trump’s endorsees had received such compliments from the president about their looks.

For example, during his midterm convention in Dallas, Trump said state Attorney General Ken Paxton, the GOP nominee for Senate in Texas, “may not be the best-looking guy I’ve ever seen.”

During the Fox interview, Watters floated the topic of the Texas Senate candidate’s rear end to Vance, to which the vice president responded, “I’m sure Paxton’s doing great.”

Vance said Trump’s playful compliments are one of his favorite things about the president.

“The president, as you know, is at heart a comedian, and he loves to get up there and shake things up a little bit,” Vance said. “I just think it’s a good example of a politician who doesn’t take himself so seriously.”

The vice president, in the final stretch of the midterm campaign, used the moment to focus on Husted as a candidate, calling the Ohio Republican’s opponent, former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D), a “lunatic.”

“Jon Husted, in addition to his very nice body, is more importantly going to make a much better senator for the people of the United States of America than the lunatic he’s running against,” Vance said.

Nonpartisan election forecaster Decision Desk HQ, a partner of The Hill, gives Brown a 55 percent chance to win the Ohio Senate race.
