Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) will win reelection for another term in the Senate, holding off a challenge from Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.), Decision Desk HQ has projected.

Ossoff is leading with about 80 percent of the vote to Collins’s nearly 20 percent with 11 percent of precincts reporting.

Georgia was one of the few legitimate pickup opportunities for the GOP in the Senate, being a state that President Trump carried in 2024. But Ossoff’s reelection never seemed seriously in doubt as he consistently led in polling and easily outraised his opponent throughout the campaign.

Ossoff has been seen as a rising star among Democrats since he first won an open Senate seat in Georgia in 2020, helping to hand the party a narrow Senate majority. But his stock has been rising especially over the past year, and he has been the subject of increasing presidential speculation.

The senator has repeatedly brushed off the speculation, saying he’s not interested in running for higher office and is focused on winning reelection to his Senate seat. During a debate with Collins last month, Ossoff pledged to serve the entirety of his six-year term in the Senate if reelected.

“I have zero interest in running for president. I’m not running for president. I’m running for reelection to the Senate,” he said.

But now that he’s won reelection and the 2028 presidential cycle is around the corner, eyes will be on the senator to see if he sticks to that. If he were to run for the presidency, Ossoff wouldn’t be the first to do so after strongly ruling it out.

Former President Obama, whom Ossoff’s rhetorical style has often been compared to, famously said he didn’t plan to run for the office in 2006 before winning in 2008.
