Democrats from New Hampshire to Wisconsin are on track to make massive inroads in state legislatures across the country, as the party racks up wins up and down the ballot.

The party is poised to flip both state legislative chambers in at least two states and clinch trifectas in at least five states so far. Democrats are also set to gain ground in red territory, cracking GOP trifectas in places like Georgia, North Carolina and Texas.

As of Wednesday, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) said the party is on track to flip at least a dozen state Houses and Senates as results continue to trickle in. Decision Desk HQ has yet to formally project many of these races.

Democrats are already touting these victories as another way to check President Trump and his agenda, with the party also clinching control of the House and Senate in Washington, D.C.

Here’s a look at the states where Democrats look set to flip legislative chambers, gain trifectas and even make inroads:

Capitols clinched in New Hampshire, Wisconsin

Democrats are poised to make their biggest gains in New Hampshire and Wisconsin, flipping the full legislatures.

State Navigate forecasts that Democrats are favored to win 253 seats in the New Hampshire House while Republicans hold on to 147. The nonpartisan state government elections tracker forecasts that Democrats and Republicans are so far favored to win 12 seats each.

The Associated Press has not called majorities for either chamber in the Granite State yet, though some news outlets have declared both a win for Democrats.

Democrats will still have to contend with a Republican governor, with Kelly Ayotte sailing to reelection Tuesday.

The party also made record gains in the Badger State. The Associated Press projects that Democrats will hold an 18-15 edge in the Senate and a 53-46 majority in the state Assembly.

The party was buoyed in large part by recent electoral wins on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which in 2023 paved the way for a redraw of the state’s legislative maps. That decision helped usher in a more competitive map for both parties, giving Democrats new areas to compete in.

Republicans blamed their poor performance Tuesday on the bleak political landscape for the GOP, Democratic investment in state legislature races and the impact of top-of-the-ticket races.

“With the 2028 elections and the next round of congressional redistricting approaching, Republicans must confront the challenges ahead and make a sustained commitment to winning back and defending our majorities,” Republican State Leadership Committee President Edith Jorge-Tuñón said in a statement.

At least five states are set to have Democrats at the helm of their state legislatures and governor’s mansions.

Minnesota was widely seen as Democrats’ best chance for a trifecta. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) is set to become the state’s next governor, besting state House Speaker Lisa Demuth (R).

The party is projected to expand its majority in the state Senate and clinch the state House to end the state’s divided government under outgoing Gov. Tim Walz (D). Though votes are still being counted, the AP projected Democrats winning both chambers, notching at least 35 seats in the state Senate and 73 in the state House. The party last held a trifecta in 2024.

In Michigan, Democrats are also projected to flip the state House, ending Republicans’ 58-52 advantage, according to the AP . Democrat Jocelyn Benson is also set to succeed outgoing Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), while Democrats are projected to win at least 22 state Senate and 60 state House seats. The party currently holds a 20-18 edge in the state Senate.

Democrats also notched trifectas in battleground Nevada and Pennsylvania.

Democrat Aaron Ford ousted Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo in Nevada, while Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro easily won reelection Tuesday . Democrats are projected by the AP to hold their majority in the Nevada state Legislature, while the party is set to flip the Keystone State’s upper chamber to clinch a trifecta. Pennsylvania last had a Democratic trifecta in 1993, according to Ballotpedia .

In the Midwest, Wisconsin Democrats are on track to win their first trifecta since 2010.

Democrat David Crowley won the election to succeed Gov. Tony Evers (D), while their party is poised to capture the majorities in both legislative chambers, according to the AP.

“By flipping hundreds of seats and the largest number of chambers in a single night for Democrats since the 1980s, we have put Democrats in a stronger position all across the map,” DLCC President Heather Williams said in a statement.

“Our victories have shattered Republicans’ grip on our statehouses, and with two years left in the Trump administration, it is clear that voters trust Democratic state legislators to both stand as a bulwark against Republicans’ MAGA agenda and to fight on their behalf to make progress, lower costs, and invest in their communities,” she added.

Democrats are also on track to make serious inroads in red-leaning states.

In Arizona, the final tally of votes is still up in the air, but Democrats could deliver a trifecta after Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs won a second term Tuesday.

The AP projects that the party is set to clinch enough seats to at least tie the state’s upper chamber, and no call has been made for either party in the state House. Republicans currently control both chambers.

On the other side of the country, the AP projects that North Carolina Democrats will win control of the state House. The outlet has yet to project the upper chamber.

Democrats also cracked Republicans’ trifecta in Georgia for the first time since 2004 after Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms defeated Republican Rick Jackson for the governor’s mansion .

The party looks poised to crack the GOP’s supermajority in the state Senate, while the party could be in striking distance of flipping the state House.

In Texas, Democrats are projected to flip the Texas House alongside Democrat Gina Hinojosa’s successful gubernatorial bid to end Republican control in the state.

Democrats broke GOP trifectas in Ohio and Iowa, too, and the party is set to possibly bring about an end to Republican supermajorities in states like South Carolina and Kansas as the final votes are tallied.
