Colorado Sen. John Hickenlooper (D) is projected to win a second term in the upper chamber, according to Decision Desk HQ.
He defeated Republican Mark Baisley, a state lawmaker, for the solid-blue seat. Hickenlooper was first elected to Capitol Hill in 2020, and he serves on the Commerce, Science and Transportation and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committees, among others.
The Senate Democrat previously served as the mayor of Denver from 2003 to 2011 and governor of the Centennial State from 2011 to 2019. He unsuccessfully ran for president in 2020, ending his campaign to instead run for Senate.
Hickenlooper was the favorite to win in the blue state. A Colorado Republican hasn’t been elected to the Senate since 2014.
