Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D), who won his third term as the governor of the Prairie State, criticized Vice President Vance’s social media post following the Republican party’s sweeping losses in the midterm elections saying Vance cannot “run away from what he’s been.”

“Well, let’s face it, JD Vance has been Donald Trump’s number one cheerleader,” Pritzker said during an appearance on CNN. “He’s supported everything about the president. Now he wants to seem like he’s breaking with the president.”

Vance on Wednesday , in a lengthy social media post , put the blame of the Republican party’s midterm losses on the ongoing war in Iran. “The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night,” he said.

“If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that’s at least honest,” he argued.

The post came after Democrats took control of both the House and the Senate for the next term in the midterm elections, securing major wins in battleground states like Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Maine, Kansas and Iowa.

During his CNN appearance, Pritzker also noted that Vance was “sticking up for Vivek Ramaswamy’s terrible ad attacking a woman who had been raped when she was 12 years old,” referring to an attack ad launched by the Republican gubernatorial nominee’s campaign against the winning Democrat Amy Acton ahead of the elections.

The ad featured Acton’s estranged mother, who called her daughter a “liar” and urged Ohioans to vote against her. Acton has previously opened up about experiencing physical and sexual abuse during her childhood. Her mother stayed with her stepfather after he was charged with sexually abusing Acton when she was 12 years old.

It received widespread criticism across the board, but Vance slammed the critics and stood behind Ramaswamy saying he “had the audacity to run a TV commercial which calls it out like it is and calls Amy Acton a liar.”

“I think he’s got a lot to answer for. I don’t think he can run away from what he’s been,” Pritzker said during his CNN appearance.
