Watch live: Hawley turns spotlight on Flock, AI-powered cameras

A Senate Judiciary Committee panel will put Flock Safety’s sprawling network of AI-powered license plate cameras under the microscope Wednesday amid concerns over privacy and potential misuse.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), who chairs the Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism , recently opened an investigation into Flock and how data collected by its more than 120,000 cameras across the country can be accessed and shared.

The senators will also hear from Lindsey Isaacs, a Florida woman who was jailed for nearly two weeks after authorities wrongly accused her of involvement in a fatal hit-and-run. Her case involved data from Flock’s license plate-reading system and the charges against her were later dropped.

Hawley invited the CEOs of Flock Safety, Axon, Motorola Solutions and Verkada to testify.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
