Prime Video announced the release of a two-part series on first lady Melania Trump’s life since her husband returned to office, unveiling a trailer for the new series Friday.
The series, titled “MELANIA, The Series,” offers new insight into the behind-the-scenes life of the first lady.
“The Series reveals never-before-told stories, offering unprecedented insight into Melania Trump’s life, including the extraordinary days immediately following the 47th Presidential Inauguration,” Prime Video said.
The first episode, titled “Family & Trust,” will focus on her setting priorities ahead of her return to the White House, and the second episode, titled “Pride & Honor,” focuses on setting “her mission in motion.”
The new series follows Amazon’s release of the “Melania” movie, a documentary film on the 20 days leading up to President Trump’s inauguration.
Amazon spent $75 million on the film to acquire and market its release, but it only made $16 million at the box office. Melania Trump was an executive producer on the film.
At the time, some Democratic lawmakers, including Rep. Hank Johnson (Ga.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), said they would investigate whether the movie’s release was a “pay-to-play scheme,” arguing Amazon has several financial interests in the hands of the Trump administration.
Amazon Executive Chair Jeff Bezos attended President Trump’s inauguration and has had a cozier relationship with the president during his second term in office. Still, after the film’s release, Bezos denied having anything to do with the decision to acquire it.
“Amazon’s a big company and makes a lot of decisions. But no, this idea that somehow that is a way of buying influence, it’s just not. It’s just not correct,” Bezos said at the time.
The new two-part series will begin streaming Nov. 20 on Prime Video.
