Savannah Guthrie opens up about mom, Nancy, ahead of Ireland trip

( NewsNation ) — Savannah Guthrie honored her mother, Nancy Guthrie , on Thursday during the “Today” show, sharing a personal connection to Ireland ahead of an upcoming trip with the morning show crew.

Guthrie revealed that the entire NBC team will travel to Ireland for a series of live broadcasts.

“I love that we’re all going. I’ve never been to Ireland,” she said. “My mother’s family — my mother was Irish, (as was) her grandmother. They were from Galway.”

The trip comes as the investigation into her mother’s disappearance continues.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was believed to be abducted from her Tucson, Ariz., home in the early hours of Feb. 1, based on the time her pacemaker stopped communicating with her phone. She was reported missing the next day.

Authorities have said she likely was targeted before she was taken from her residence. She was last seen while being dropped off at home on Jan. 31 by a family member.

Since then, law enforcement has released security camera footage and multiple ransom notes, including one suggesting the NBC host’s mom is “buried with nature.”

Guthrie vowed that her family will “never stop looking for answers” about what happened to her mother.
