Frost: Biden should have released Epstein files

Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) on Sunday said former President Biden and his administration should have released the federal government’s documents and files connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Frost appeared on Jubilee’s “Surrounded,” where a guest confronted him about President Trump before the lawmaker asked if he did not believe the president has been “covering up the Epstein files,” accusing Trump of such an attempt. The guest pushed back and asked why the Biden administration did not release the files.

“They should have,” Frost replied. “They should have.”

“No, they should have, but they didn’t. You know why they didn’t? Because he’s the most corrupt president ever,” the guest yelled back in reference to Biden, with other guests applauding.

Frost repeated that the Biden administration should have released it before adding that Trump campaigned on releasing the files.

“He said, ‘Release the files,'” the Florida Democrat continued. “He literally said he would release the files. He said at multiple campaign rallies that he was going to release the files. … So, we’re holding him accountable to that.

Frost also mentioned that the files were released after Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) authored a bill that passed Congress after compelling House members to a floor vote in November, with the assistance of Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) and former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).

The legislation, which Trump signed into law, required the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release all of its documents, with redactions in place to protect the identities of survivors and any individuals possibly under investigation.

But the DOJ’s rollout of the files, along with heavy redactions and missing redactions, was met with heavy scrutiny from the public and lawmakers.

In December, former Vice President Kamala Harris defended the Biden administration for not requesting the DOJ to release the files. She told late-night host Jimmy Kimmel that the administration “strongly and rightly believed that there should be an absolute separation between what we wanted as an administration and what the Department of Justice did.”

Trump asked in July 2025 why Democrats did not go ahead and release the files while they controlled the White House and Senate. He accused Democrats of perpetuating a “SCAM,” claiming that Biden’s DOJ “HAD NOTHING!”

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, in its ongoing probe into Epstein, his crimes and his associates, has received testimony from several people, including former President Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, lawyer Alan Dershowitz and former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who was criticized for how the release of the DOJ’s documents on Epstein was handled.

The committee, including nine Democrats , voted to hold the Clintons in contempt. Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) sought to penalize the political couple for failing to respond to a congressional subpoena tied to the probe. Both later testified.

Comer has also formally requested Dershowitz to testify. Dershowitz told NewsNation in June that he was willing to sit for a videotaped interview with the committee.
