Trump posts updates about his DC ‘beautification’ projects

President Donald Trump made several posts on social media on Monday morning with pictures of statues and landmarks around Washington, D.C., that the National Park Service has been updating. Trump has been emphasizing his efforts to “beautify” D.C., including constructing an arch in his honor, fixing fountains and gold-plating statues, among other projects.

Each post contained photos of a project around the city and a status update about the project from Greg Wischer from the Department of the Interior.

One was of the George Mason Memorial fountain , which, Wischer said, as quoted by Trump, had been repaired for the first time in eight years. Photos in another post showed water flowing at fountains at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial.

Several posts featured statues that had been cleaned and waxed, including statues of Dante Alighieri and Joan of Arc in Meridian Hill Park.

The Department of the Interior under Trump has already restored some high-profile fountains around D.C., including at Meridian Hill Park and Union Station.

Trump still has a long list of projects that are part of his campaign to “Make DC Safe and Beautiful Again,” including his controversial White House ballroom and triumphal arch. The president has also sought to repaint the Reflecting Pool, which he posted recently was soon to be reopened after months of controversy over the renovations.
